    CEM Trading Ltd is a social enterprise and subsidiary of Community Energy Malawi (CEM), dedicated to delivering clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to underserved rural communities in Malawi. We develop and operate solar mini-grids, provide solar installations, battery rentals, and support productive use of energy (PUE) equipment to boost livelihoods and foster sustainable development.

    02. How do your mini-grids work and who can access them?

    Our mini-grids are solar-powered systems that operate off-grid and deliver electricity through a pay-as-you-go model. They are designed for rural, remote communities and can power homes, businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities. Anyone within the mini-grid service area can subscribe to the service and access clean, affordable electricity.

    03. What kind of renewable energy solutions do you offer apart from mini-grids?

    In addition to mini-grid development, we offer:

    • Battery rental services for portable, bite-sized energy access.

    • Solar installations for homes and institutions (rooftop, grid-tied, off-grid).

    • Productive Use of Energy (PUE) equipment such as solar-powered agricultural and business tools.

    • Maintenance services, energy education, and women/youth empowerment programs.
